THE BIGGEST TFS EVENT - One of the most successful The Freight Summit events in history was recently held last October 02 – 05, 2017 at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with more than 300 delegates in attendance. TFS is already 10 years in the industry and is by far the leading forwarding event that is neutral and open to all independent freight forwarders who seek more business opportunities and partnerships while gaining more friends inside the TFS community.
The Freight Summit KL started with a registration on October 02, 2017 where all the delegates were warmly welcomed at the Grand Hyatt Ground Floor Lobby. There were familiar faces, new TFS participants, other acquaintances and friends were seen and reunited during the registration. In the afternoon, the very first United Nations-inspired cocktail reception was held at the Grand Hyatt Grand Salon where all the delegates were encouraged to wear their national attire. The purpose of having this kind of theme is to showcase that all TFS delegates are united with one another amidst the diversity of their nationality and culture. This is a simple gesture of showing camaraderie while proudly wearing their national attire.
The 2nd day of TFS was regarded as the busiest schedule we had during the event. TFS was formally opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony officiated by our beloved sponsors starting off with Focused Cargo Network, Dolphin Logistics, Shipco Transport, KRL, Adcom (Radiant Logistics), Parisi Grand Smooth Logistics, Clearfreight, Royal Cargo Inc., ASG Wind and CS4. After the ceremony, everyone was gathered at Foyer Grand Hyatt Grand Salon for the welcoming remarks of Nils Walle who is one of the directors and co-founders of The Freight Summit. He was followed then by Mark Millar, Asia’s foremost speaker in logistics and supply chain strategies, who shared his keynote speech about the Regionalization of Cargo Traffic. The last speaker was Mr. Jakob Bluhme from Shipco Transport who shared their company’s business and insights about TFS. Afterwards, everyone was gathered for a group photo in the same function hall and went straight for a coffee break.
The delegates transferred to Grand Hyatt Grand Ballroom for the first session of face-to-face meetings that started at 10:40 AM. At noon, everyone had a sumptuous lunch at Thirty8 Restaurant which is one of the best restaurants of the hotel. Before the day ended, the face-to-face meetings were continued until 6 PM.
To balance the work and fun environment in TFS, the delegates were prepared for outdoor activities on the 3rd day. We started the day with TFS Run at KLCC Park where some of the delegates participated actively. At 10 AM, everyone was gathered for the city tour and headed to Batu Caves, one of the most visited and iconic tourist attractions in Selangor, Malaysia. These caves are situated in limestone hills and considered as sacred place for Hindus. Before we went back to Grand Hyatt, the delegates spent their lunch at Tamarind Restaurant where they tried different international cuisines.
One of the most memorable moments for TFS delegates was the sunset cocktail that held at Marini’s on 57. Everyone had a great time catching up with their TFS friends and others were overjoyed to meet new acquaintances. It was simply a good time spent with good drinks, food, and company. The sunset cocktail was sponsored by Focused Cargo Network.
We finally arrived on the last day of the event where we conducted the last session of face-to-face meetings from morning to afternoon. While there were few cases of “no shows” because some delegates had to leave early for their flight, most of the meetings were still successful and certainly will bring more business opportunities for the delegates.
The 10th year of The Freight Summit was a blast! From Day 1 until the end of the event, everyone who has been part definitely contributes to the continuous success of TFS. We would not reach this far if without the support from the management, the TFS Team, Grand Hyatt coordinators and staff, to our beloved sponsors and exhibitors, and to all the participants from different parts of the globe who flew to Malaysia to attend this year’s biggest TFS event!
We look forward to seeing you again next year and we are certain that it will be another fruitful The Freight Summit event for us all!
